A woman committed assaults against partners which were ’almost identical’, a court has been told.
Ellen Pryce, of Davaar Avenue in Campbeltown, admitted assaulting a former partner on April 23 last year and also assaulting another former partner on August 11 last year. These happened at different addresses within the town, the second happening while Pryce was on bail granted at the court on May 25.
Procurator fiscal depute Raeesa Ahmed told the court that each happened after a telephone call and Pryce then turning up at properties uninvited.
During the first incident the complainer tried to calm the accused down before Pryce proceeded to strike her to the face with a closed fist. The woman suffered a cut lip.
In the second incident, Pryce telephoned a former partner, said the fiscal, adding: “Fifteen minutes later, the accused appeared at her home; appeared to be drunk, carrying a litre-sized bottle of vodka. She then entered the property.
“The accused would not calm down and then struck the complainer’s face using her right hand.”
Sheriff Euan Cameron had called for reports on Pryce when the case called at an earlier court sitting.
Her defence agent Derek Buchanan said that the report on the 40-year-old was very detailed, adding: “Miss Pryce has not had the easiest of upbringings.”
He added that she had showed considerable concern for her actions, genuine reflection and was making progress in rehabilitating herself and asked for a non-custodial sentence.
Sheriff Cameron said: “Having been released on bail, she went out and committed an almost identical offence."
The sheriff placed Pryce on two 18-month-long community payback orders, to run concurrently, during which time she will be supervised. She was also ordered to carry out a total of 270 hours of work in the community within 12 months.
He also made two non-harassment orders, each to run for five years, saying: “Your former partners need protection from you.”
