On behalf of Ardgour Community Council, I am writing with a plea for you to help clarify the situation at Dail Mhor care home in Strontian and to help prevent its premature closure by NHSH.
Along with the four other peninsula community councils, we were dismayed to learn that a closure of Dail Mhor had been announced by Karen Anne Wilson (District Manager – Adult Care Services Lochaber) at the Sunart Community Council meeting on April 11.
Since the initial announcement, there has been considerable backtracking which has led to a state of confusion and concern, and we feel that a meeting is urgently required to discuss the situation. As we see it, some of the key issues that need addressed are:
I hope that this has given you some understanding of the current issues our community is facing and the urgency there is to clarify the situation and prevent any premature closure.
To this end, we think that a meeting is urgently required with our elected officials and representatives from NHSH, Highland Council, Urram, community councils and other stakeholders.

The Greens are out of government. They were less environmentalists and more power crazy opportunists pushing half-baked policies with the fervour and single-minded intent of one of our magnificent red stags galloping into the rut – the ones they put a target on the heads of 24/7.
The Greens stirred up controversy, holding the government to ransom. Their unfathomable steadfast support of the insane headlong rush into over deployment of unreliable wind energy to enrich global investment companies to the detriment of communities, the environment and energy security helped give their party a new slogan. Green is the new Blackout.
I don’t predict happy times ahead in Holyrood for the SNP as a minority government, but Humza has a chance to endear himself to his rural communities – First Minister you’ve ditched one serious hazard to your government now ditch another... tell SSEN to go away and think again, and that there will be no more overhead lines or massive substations in Scotland’s iconic landscapes.
