Golfer Mary MacKinnon has a spring in her step after winning Dunaverty Golf Club’s ladies’ competition last Saturday.
On a day that was cool, virtually windless but with low cloud and fine misty drizzle and showers at times, 15 ladies took to the course to compete in the Spring Meeting competition.
Players vied for the prize, which was donated by ladies’ captain Lorna Cook, over both the morning and lunchtime ballot times.
Linda Brannigan, in the first pairing out, set the pace for the day, carding a nett 68. Her score was matched by Eleanor Hawkins in the following group to take joint first place.
This remained the situation until the lunchtime players completed their rounds in deteriorating weather conditions, with Mary McKinnon also returning a score of nett 68. However, Mary took first place with a better inward half (bih) from Eleanor Hawkins.
“Well done to all who took part,” said a club spokesperson.
Result: 1 Mary McKinnon 93-25=68 (bih), 2 Eleanor Hawkins 94-26=68 (bih), 3 Linda Brannigan 98-30=68. Lowest gross: Ailie MacBrayne 81.
