The featured artist at Arran Library’s exhibition space for May is talented illustrator Jill Hargan.
Jill is well-known on Arran for her paintings which capture people in their natural habitats and for her recent work illustrating books including Sam the Skull, Mr Fudge and Hullabaloo.
Jill said: “In the last few years, I have been experimenting with watercolours and inks. The spontaneous effects that can be achieved with these has resulted in lots of small paintings, some of which are framed and some which I have used as cards, as well as larger paintings using the same techniques.
“Watercolours and inks are also ideal for illustration and I have enjoyed illustrating children’s books and animals; Sam the Skull, a cat, Mr Fudge, a pony, and Hullabaloo, the adventures of a cat and dog.
“I have also continued to enjoy working in oils. The library exhibition is a chance to show both mediums."
Arran Library in Brodick is open from 10am to 5pm on Tuesdays and Fridays and from 10am to 1pm on Saturday. It is also open on Thursdays from 10am to 6pm but is closed on Monday, Wednesday and Sunday.
