At the height of daily fluctuating diesel prices recently, motorists on Arran were paying £2.19 per litre, up to almost 50 pence more per litre than elsewhere in Scotland.
A special cargo-only sailing scheduled by CalMac last week brought vital fuel supplies to Arran and allowed refuse to be removed from the island following disruption to both of these services owing to ferry cancellations.
Islanders with older cars have been assured they will still be able to use them after E10 petrol was introduced across the island, as reported in last week’s Banner.
Owner of vintage and classic cars on Arran, and even those with old petrol lawnmowers, have been left with no fuel supplies since the introduction of E10 petrol at the start of last month.
