CalMac has admitted that some of its skippers are neither experienced nor competent enough to sail to Ardrossan or Gourock as port of refuge in moderate, not to mention bad weather, which leading to sailings being needlessly cancelled.
Only one in three of the vital 7am daily sailings from Ardrossan to Brodick operated during December, which severely limits delivery of goods and services, impacting widely on our island community.
