The annual series of squash team fixtures between Oban and Fort William got off to a great start at Atlantis Leisure last Tuesday.
There was a lady playing in both teams for the first time since the competition started a number of years ago.
Oban Tennis and Squash Club (OTSC) convenor Jackie Kersley said the expansion of the game was a great advert for ladies squash locally and in Scotland.
She said: "Rebecca Christopher wanted to join the men’s team from Fort William, so when I was asked if I could get a lady from Oban to play here, we jumped at the chance to promote ladies squash at Oban Tennis & Squash Club.
"Melissa Oatts played for Oban and what a great match it was with Rebecca winning 3/0."
Both teams played excellent squash and provided great entertainment for those watching.
Match of the night featured OTSC’s Mark Lockhart who went 2/0 down against Fort William’s Donald Smith before coming back to win 3/2.
"Thank you to the players from Fort William, Rebecca Christopher, Scot MacLean, Mark MacLean , Donald Smith and Allan Love for making the journey down to Oban," added Jackie.
"And to our team, Melissa Oatts, Malcom Croarkin, Mark Lockhart, Paul Kersley and Neil Fraser for a fanastic night of squash.
"Thanks, as always, to Nick, Jonny and the team at Atlantis Leisure Oban."
Oban took the early lead winning 10/8 on the night.
The next team match is on May 28.
