A fortnight ago I went for a week’s holiday to County Kerry in Ireland. I loved it, Right Reverend Brian McGee, Bishop of Argyll and the Isles.
Like Argyll, Kerry is rural, borders the Atlantic and is full of mountains and lochs. Two beautiful places blessed by the splendour of creation.
However, I noticed that Kerry was several weeks ahead of us in terms of spring. Their daffodils had already gone and their trees boasted many leaves.
Hardly surprising since Kerry lies some 500 miles further south than Oban.
This Wednesday I sail to the Western Isles for parish visitations and once again – due to their geographical position – I will notice differences there too. Nature will indeed ensure that every area comes to fruition but it will happen as it should and at the right time.
It is the same with us. The Creator has plans of splendour for us too.
The Resurrection of Jesus calls us to new life – even here on Earth, although our perfection will only unfold in heaven.
Every person has a dignity, is unique, and precious. Nobody lives life to the full.
What new life I need will differ from what you need. Similarly, we are all at different stages in our life journey, including in terms of faith.
God takes us where we are. He is gentle and patient. If we are open Christ will bring us to our unique fruition in the way he knows best and at the best speed for us.
