A motorist who had used cannabis was caught by officers who were taking part in the Police Scotland winter road safety Christmas campaign, the March sitting of Campbeltown Sheriff Court was told.
The officers found a strong smell of cannabis from both the car and its driver, Stuart Moir, of 84 Annadale Gardens, Glenrothes, Fife, on the morning of December 2, 2022, on the A83 near Gobagrennan.
“The accused failed the roadside tests and was taken to Campbeltown Police Station,” said procurator fiscal depute Raeesa Ahmed.
Moir admitted driving a vehicle with a Delta-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol reading of more than the threshold limit of two microgrammes per litre of blood; his reading was seven.
The defence agent for Moir, was John B McGeechan, who said that the 41-year-old electrical engineer believed the cannabis would have left his system sooner.
Sheriff Euan Cameron handed down a fine of £630 with a 13-month driving ban.
