A Skye man who was described by a sheriff as "a danger to women" has been sentenced to 20 months in prison at Inverness Sheriff Court.
But Neil Corrigall of Riverbank, Broadford, had been remanded in custody since July 3 last year - so will now be released imminently.
Corrigall, 32, had been convicted by a jury after trial before Sheriff Sara Matheson of a campaign of domestic abuse against a woman between November 1, 2022 and July 1, 2023 at properties on the Isle of Skye.
Sentencing him, Sheriff Matheson told Corrigall: "It is clear from your record, including a conviction at the High Court, that you present a serious danger to women."
She also placed him on a three-year non-harassment order to protect his victim.
The jury found Corrigall guilty of seizing his victim by the body, strangling her, butting her on the head, repeatedly accusing her of infidelity and of repeatedly making offensive and abusive remarks to her on various occasions.
Sentence had been deferred for a background report.
Defence solicitor Graham Mann told the court: "He appears with a record which discloses a pattern of this type of behaviour.
"He recognises he has issues and while he has been remanded in custody, he has engaged in courses in prison.
"When the relationship was not going well, his coping mechanisms were alcohol and drugs."
