A true gentleman

Ted Godfrey fulfilled the role of transport co-ordinator for Arran Cancer Support Trust (ArCaS) from June 2005 until December 2010.

Many residents of Arran will remember the sympathetic and efficient manner in which he organised drivers to take them to and from appointments for their cancer treatment.

With his wife, Margaret, he offered a listening ear in a calm and reassuring way when patients were at their lowest.

He provided a valuable contribution to the deliberations of the committee, attending whenever possible.

He was also very active in the British Legion, making sure younger generations never forgot the sacrifices of those lost in war.

With his passing, the island has lost a true gentleman and his legacy of sympathy and helpfulness is part of the history and ethos of Arran Cancer Support Trust which continues to assist Cancer patients and their carers in a way in which Ted would approve.
