The next speaker at Arran Heritage Museum’s popular Tuesday Talk series will be Angela Cassels who will speak about deserted settlements on Arran.
Taking place on Tuesday July 5 at 2.30pm, the talk will discuss the many small clachans or settlements that once dotted the Arran landscape which Angela has spent considerable time investigating and studying.
Recently, using remote sensing technology known as Lidar, hundreds of these previously unknown archaeological sites have been discovered, sparking a renewed interest in the subject.
Remnants of these small settlements remain, if you know where to look, and Angela’s talk will provide an invaluable insight into these remains.
In other museum news, the annual visit of the spinning and weaving group begins on Thursday July 7. Group members will demonstrate their work every Thursday in July and August from 11am to 3pm.
