Head greenkeeper Stewart Fotheringham of Shiskine Golf and Tennis Club has been presented with a long service award in appreciation of 40 years of service at the club.

Stewart was presented with a decanter and a painting of the iconic bell at the 11th hole at the recent club championships’ prize-giving.

Club captain Fiona Henderson, in a short speech, congratulated Stewart on his years of dedication and told members that they were all very lucky to be allowed to play on Stewart’s course.

Stewart started at the club – which was founded in 1896 – straight after school in 1982 as part of the Youth Opportunity Programme.

Since then he has spent his whole working life with the club and devotes his extensive skills and knowledge to keep the course in pristine condition throughout the year.
