Brodick Primary School pupils kick-started the Queen’s platinum jubilee celebrations on the island with a party at Brodick Hall.

The afternoon event on Tuesday included a barbecue, raffle, tombola, face painting and a village quiz, as well as a concert which the school has been preparing for over a period of many months.

The concert, attended by parents, carers and grandparents, was a musical celebration of hit songs from throughout the Queen’s reign.

Pupils from P1 to P6 sang old time favourites and new songs, with medleys performed for each decade. Along with the music, senior pupils spoke about each decade, its history, notable occurrences and, of course, royal events.

Throughout the performance, visitors enjoyed tea and scones and the pupils sang and danced flawlessly.

Brodick primary joined other schools and organisations across the UK, and in various places around the world, who are taking part in jubilee celebrations which started on Thursday and will continue until this Sunday, June 5.
