The annual fancy dress cricket fun day is set to go ahead next weekend with a special football match in memory of Arran footballer, Tony McDowall, who died on holiday two years ago at the age of 28.
Saturday May 28 will be an entire day of activities to celebrate the life of Tony, starting with the memorial football match at 11.30am on the astroturf, followed by the the fancy dress cricket at 2pm and then an evening of live music from the Pavillionaires and special guests at the Brodick Hall.
The football will see two teams of rotational players playing in Arran and Southside Utd strips which were Tony’s two football teams.
If anyone would like to take part please get in touch with Archie McNicol on 07917 83137 to register an interest.
The fancy dress cricket fun day will follow the same tried and trusted theme of years before, with teams of six players dressed in fancy-dress costume playing not-too-serious cricket with an emphasis on having fun.
There will be a bar area, burgers, music and commentary to keep everyone going throughout the day. If anyone would like to take part please get in touch with Eric Dunn on 07786 906992.
The day will be rounded off with the live music and socialising event at Brodick Hall in the evening and any profits raised will be donated to a cause selected by Tony’s family.
