Whiting Bay Golf Club

Wednesday April 6, Summer Trophy, 14 played: 1 Gavin Mainds 7, 62 acb; 2 Ryan Armstrong 7, 62; 3 Nicol Auld 5, 73; 4 Stewart Hammond 34, 65. Magic twos, Jamie Stewart @4th, Gavin Mainds @7th.

Sunday April 10, Bogey Competition. Twenty played and found the challenge of playing match play against the course a refreshing change from the usual strokeplay medal or Stableford formats. 1 Nicol Auld 5, 3 up; 2 Douglas Auld 18, 1 up; 3 David Blair 12, level acb; 4 Graeme Crichton 12, level. Magic twos, Nicol Auld @4.

Fixtures: Sunday April 17, Captain’s Prize, medal play from the yellow tees. A counter for handicap purposes. Draw at 10am. Wednesday April 20, Summer Trophy.

Shiskine Golf Club

The Shiskine Ladies Away Golfing Society Tour is an annual event when the golfers play in open days on the island, in Ayrshire and in Kintyre. Points are awarded at each outing and the trophy is awarded at the end of the season.

This year, again, it was hard to travel because of Covid so most of the competitions were held on the island although they did have one outing to Barassie.

A total of 24 ladies played in the 15 competitions and the winner this year with 48 points was Isobel Macdonald. Jenni Turnbull was second with 44 points and as she played in 14 of the 15 competitions she also won the trophy for best attendance. Alice Anderson, last year’s winner, was third with 42 points.

Thursday April 7, Ladies 18 hole medal: 1 MaryJo Tod 98-28=70; 2 Julia Salton 100-25=75. Scratch: Shona Weir, 86. Shona Weir was presented with the Blue Bag by Julia Salton at the ladies annual dinner at the clubhouse. Shona has it now for being most travelled to the dinner. The Shiskine Ladies have had no end of amusement over the years presenting the bag for any reason.

Sunday April 10, gents 12 hole medal: 1 Colin Dair 51-8=43; 2 Colin Rutterford 59-15=44 BIH; 3 Peter King 60-16=44 BIH. Scratch: Joe Faulkner 50.

Lamlash Golf Club

Thursday April 7, Summer Competition: 1 Martin Wallbank 77-12=65; 2 Norrie MacIntyre 77-8=69; 3 Stuart Campbell 74-4=70; 4 Ian Bremner 78-7=71 BIH. Best scratch: Craig Young 69. Magic two: Willie Currie @2nd. Accumulator hole 17 – rollover.

Sunday April 10, Hugh Hutchison Greensome: 1 Robbie McGunnigle and John O’Sullivan, net 61.0; 2 Stuart Campbell and Graeme Andrew, net 62.2. Magic twos Stuart Campbell and Graeme Andrew, Billy O’Connor and Colin Clements, Andy Smith and Stuart McLaren, Paul Jameson and Bob McKenzie, all @16th.

Draw at 11.30am for noon start. Thursday April 21, Summer Cup. Make up own groups and see starter for time. Sunday April 24, Drift Inn Quaich (Stableford), noon draw.

Brodick Golf Club

Arran Ladies Golf Union

Saturday April 9, President’s Prize. A total of 20 ladies took part in this competition which was played at Shiskine. The game was hosted by past president Viv Parks. Although rather chilly, everyone managed a round in sunny, dry conditions. The winner was Madeleine MacLaren, 44. Runner up was Fiona Greener, 46 BIH, and scratch was Susan Butchard, 53.

The ladies thank Viv for the coffee and cake and for all of her hard work during the past two difficult years. Viv also organised a collection for the Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal which raised more than £170. Well done Viv.
