Candidates for the Arran ward of North Ayrshire Council have been confirmed for the local government elections which will be held on Thursday May 5.

The new Arran Ward 4 will return a single councillor and six candidates have put in nomination papers to represent the seat.

They are: Timothy Billings, Scottish Conservative and Unionist; Steve Garraway, Scottish National Party (SNP); Aaran McDonald, Scottish Labour Party; Ellen McMaster, Independent; Ronna Park, Scottish Green Party and Tom Young, Independent.


Voting for the candidates will open at 7am on Thursday May 5, with polling places closing at 10pm. The electronic verification and counting of votes will be held the following day, Friday May 6.

For those not yet registered to vote, applications can be made online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote, and applications must reach the Electoral Registration Officer (for Ayrshire) at 9 Wellington Square, Ayr KA7 1HL by 12 midnight on Monday April 18.

The deadline for new postal vote and postal proxy applications is 5pm on Tuesday April 19.

Those aged 16 and 17 on election day will be able to vote in the election provided they are registered to vote.
