The annual Burns poetry competition was held in Whiting Bay Primary School last Wednesday.

All pupils recited either a Burns poem or a Scots poem and everyone was impressed with the hard work the children had put into the event.

Winners: P1, Iona Cain – Ode Tae a Spider; P2, Frankie Lucas – Ma Wee Dug; P3, Charlotte Young – A Dug, A Dug; P4, Jamie MacHale – A Dug, A Dug; P5, Izzy Early – extract of To a Mouse; P6, Nicolas Harris – Scots Wha Hae; P7, Julieta Gray – Scots Wha Hae. Congratulations to all the winners.
