Brodick Co-op has once again shown its support for mental wellbeing with a number of initiatives during Time to Talk day.

Store manager Liz Mclean and team manager Carol Harwood provided shoppers with goody bags and invited members of the public to give them a call if they need to chat.

The bags, which people were encouraged to take, contained chocolates, a hot drink and a few tasty nibbles, as well as a small heart-shaped card with a positive message.

Time to Talk day is a national initiative by mental health organisations Mind, Rethink Mental Illness and the Co-op which have joined together in an effort to help friends, families, communities and workplaces to talk, listen and help change lives.

Time to Talk day takes place on the first Thursday of February each year when mental health organisations and anti-stigma groups spread the message that talking is beneficial for mental health and that there is always someone to talk to.

The Co-op are long-term supporters of mental wellbeing endeavours and spearhead a number of initiatives, such as Together Through Tough Times and Time to Talk, as well as providing charitable donations supporting the work of mental health organisations.

If you are struggling with your mental health, or if you just wish to speak to someone, Liz and Carol will lend a sympathetic ear and, if required, direct you to a organisation offering assistance.

The Scottish Association for Mental Health can be contacted on 03448 000550 from 9am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays. Or email info@samh.org.uk. Further useful information, guidance and advice can be found at www.samh.org.uk/
