Ladies hockey makes a welcome return to Brodick this weekend when Arran Ladies Hockey Club play their first league game since the start of the pandemic.
They are due to host Glasgow University V in their already delayed opening match of the season with a 2pm passback at Ormidale astroturf.
The Arran club now has their West District Ladies Hockey League fixtures for the next three months, although they are still non-competitive at this stage. They are also subject to Scottish Hockey not bringing in new restrictions, but given this week’s Scottish government announcement on major sporting events being given the go-ahead, that seems unlikely.
Captain Jenny Crockett said: ‘This is a great chance for the ladies team to play regularly, to identify training points and build up skills and techniques in advance of the 2022/23 season returning competitively.
‘It has been a pleasure to be on the pitch with you all during the last year and back playing with old and new friends. I hope the new year brings us lots of fun hockey times.’
Hockey training has resumed at Ormidale astroturf on Thursday nights for anyone interested. See Arran Ladies facebook page for details.
