Arran Market memories

A total of 31 years of tradition came to an end last year with the last Arran Christmas Show. A downward trend in Arran farming, as reflected across Scotland, has been responsible for the A & J Wilson’s Brodick livestock market to decline and cease. A&J Wilson continue to thrive through its Paisley and Kilmarnock markets and it regularly collects livestock from Arran to be sold through United Auctions in Stirling and James Craig in Ayr. As we near the time of the annual market, which will now no longer take place, perhaps it is fitting to look back on former glories and changing times.
