A new app to support new parents has been launched by NHS Ayrshire and Arran.

The universal health visiting app Ayrshire Bairns will be able to provide families in Ayrshire and Arran with information and advice on parenting; infant nutrition; perinatal wellbeing; and events that may be of interest to them and their families.

It will also support an alternative way for parents and carers to communicate with health visiting staff.

The vision of the app came from Melissa Milliken, a health visitor in North Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership.

Melissa said: ‘The idea came about from a HSCP event encouraging staff to think of different ways and more efficient ways of working.

‘By moving to a digital version first, it will not only make it much more accessible for parents and carers to get health information, it will also support our efforts to become a ‘greener’ service.

‘We have already received lots of positive feedback and interest from families when discussing the future roll out of the app.’

The Universal Health Visiting app Ayrshire Bairns can be found through the NHS Ayrshire and Arran app on Apple and android.
