Green-fingered enthusiasts on Arran have something to look forward to with the announcement that the Spring Flower Show, hosted by the Arran Horticultural Society, will go ahead next March after a break of two years.

The news has been welcomed by regular attendees of the society’s summer and spring shows, which had to be hosted online after live gatherings were restricted owing to the Covid pandemic.

Now organisers have confirmed that the date of Saturday March 26 has been set for the return of the Spring Flower Show, which will be open to the public between 2pm and 4pm, with teas, coffees, homebaking and a raffle all adding to the usual attractions. A prize giving will be held at Brodick hall at 3.30pm, with trophies being awarded for some of the 30 categories of the show.

The children’s section, comprising six varied categories, is expected to be well contested again this year, as in previous years, with children being awarded nominal cash prizes for first, second, and third places.

Later in the year, the summer show has been scheduled for Wednesday August 10 at Arran High School in Lamlash.
