Whiting Bay Golf Club

Sunday October 10, Winter Cup round one. A total of 14 played and endured some heavy rain showers that had somehow managed to elude the forecasters. Added to slippery conditions underfoot it did not make for an easy game but despite that scoring was decent. John Pennycott, belying the adage that a birdie on the 1st is the kiss of death, returned a fine level 4s gross to win by two shots on a net 59. 1 John Pennycott 13, 59, 2 Neil Lucas 13, 61, 3 Duncan Heenan 12, 63. Gavin Mainds returned the lowest gross score of 69, while Tom Paterson and Duncan Heenan scored the only twos of the day.
