We have said it before, but it is without hesitation, that we say it again.

What a wonderful job everyone in the health services has done in getting everyone on the island vaccinated as quickly as possible.

The fact that every adult who resides on the island will have been vaccinated by the end of the month is quite incredible and must break some kind of record as the total for the whole of Scotland, in figures released this week, is just over 60 per cent.

Every single member of staff at the Arran Medical Group played their part in arranging the terrific mass vaccination events which have been held in the gym at Arran High School from arranging the appointments, managing the sessions, and, of course, the professionals administering the jabs.

Of course the fact that all island adults will soon be fully vaccinated doesn’t mean that we should be complacent.

The recent cases, reported in last week’s Banner, should be a timely reminder to us all with cases of the Delta variant still rising at the same time of further easing of restrictions in Scotland in the near future.

Immunisation is good but Covid-19 is not going anywhere soon.
