Seemingly unbelievable but certainly confirmed by witnesses, Shiskine Golf Club member James Toogood, has achieved the rarest of accomplishments by scoring two hole in ones on the same day…and at the same hole.

The remarkable occurrence took place on the morning of Tuesday June 29, when James scored his first ever hole in one on the 11th hole, after a fantastic six iron shot. During his second round in the afternoon, incredibly, he did it again with an almost identical tee shot.

Following his good fortune on the golf course, James promptly purchased a lottery ticket and his luck continued through to the next morning when he received an email saying he’d won. Unfortunately for the lucky golfer that was the end of his run of good luck, as his winnings only turned out to be the princely sum of £3.20.

In 2015 the Arran Banner featured a story of another double ace by Sannox golfer, Ewan McKinnon, who hit two holes in one in one round at Corrie Golf Club. In that report we described the odds of a double ace as 67 million to one, statistically five times  higher than the chances of winning the lottery, which has odds of 14 million to one.
