Last Friday the Arran High School annual golf competition for the First Minister’s Cup 2021 took place in glorious sunshine at Lamlash Golf Club.

More than 25 pupils took part this year from S1-S6 and organisers say it was great to see so many young people playing and could not have asked for better weather.

This year the school has also introduced a Junior First Minister’s Shield for S1-S3 pupils, as well as the Senior First Minister’s Cup and the school is grateful to Lamlash Golf Club for providing the pizza for all of the pupils who took part.

Thanks go to Lauren Gilbert, active schools co-ordinator, for helping to organise this event and keep the tradition going.

The prize winners from the day for the Senior First Minister’s Cup were: 1 Donald Currie, 2 Gordon MacIntyre, 3 James McCarthy. The winner of the Junior First Minister’s Shield was Isabella Reid. The winner for the longest drive was Frazer Ferguson.

The First Minister’s Cup was gifted by former first minister Jack McConnell, now Lord McConnell of Glenscorrodale, for an annual golf tournament at Arran High School.
