At the start of the pandemic in March we took the decision to make online access to our news free of charge by taking down our paywall. At a time where accurate information about Covid-19 was vital to our community, this was the right decision – even though it meant a drop in our income. In order to help safeguard the future of our journalism, the time has now come to reinstate our paywall,

However, rest assured that access to all Covid related news will still remain free. To access all other news will require a subscription, as it did pre-pandemic.

Kroner, Wolfgang Karl
Wolfgang Karl Kroner 12.01.48 – 09.03.21, beloved husband to Giorsal, much loved Dad to Markus and Family, Opa, Brother, Uncle, Cousin and Friend to many, died peacefully at Trafalgar, surrounded with love and by his family, after an illness borne with fortitude and humour. His family in Germany were with him in spirit and join us in thanking the Arran Medical Team and Pharmacy for their tender and affectionate care, we remain ever grateful to you all. To our many friends helping and caring and just saying hello along the way, for all the cards, beautiful heartfelt words, flowers and for your continued support, our thanks will never be adequate enough. Later this year, when it is deemed safe, there will be an open competition at Whiting Bay Golf Club for friends and their families, a day for all who knew Wolfi. The Family will sponsor the competition, all proceeds will go to Wolfi’s beloved Club as was his wish.
Sillars, Bessie
The family of Bessie Sillars would like to express their sincere thanks to family and friends for their kind expressions of sympathy, cards, flowers and to those who stood at the roadside for Bessie’s final journey. Special thanks to the staff of Montrose House for her excellent care over the last few years and to Arran Medical Group, the District Nurses and Homecare. We would like to thank Liz Clarke and Jean Hunter for a beautiful service. Thank you also to David & Clair Hendry for the funeral arrangements. The family appreciate the donations made.
