Ayrshire Sunday League
A determined Arran side faced league leaders Kilbirnie United at Beith Astro for the second time in days to secure an excellent 6-2 win against the tough opponents with whom they drew 4-4 in the earlier game.
Prolific goalscorer Archie McNicol added to his season tally of 36 goals by scoring a hat-trick while team-mates Nick Emsley, Donald Park and Christopher ‘Babbies’ McNeil each added their own contributions to bring the Arran goal tally to half a dozen.
Opponents Kilbirnie dug deep to make their mark on the game but they could only muster two goals in reply, despite some spirited play.
Nick Emsley was awarded man of the match for his performance on the field.
A spokesman for Arran AFC said: ‘A great away performance from the boys today. They dug in hard against a good team and now on to the next game.
‘On behalf of the club, we would also like to wish Arran player Sam Tattersfield and his new wife, Hollie Watkins, congratulations on their wedding earlier this week.’
