Scottish Cup round 3
Arran AFC found themselves dumped out of the Scottish Cup on Sunday after a closely fought match against BSC Glasgow.
Arran were enjoyed one of their rare home games of the season when they faced the BSC side, formed in Broomhill but who now play their home games in Alloa in the third round of the Scottish Cup at Ormidale Park.
With both teams relatively evenly matched the game provided the large number of supporters who lined the field with some high quality football with neither team able to break the deadlock, despite concerted efforts and numerous attempts at goal by both teams.
And at the half time whistle the honours were still eve aftrer an opportunistic goal by BSC and a hard won goal from Arran’s Archie McNicol made it 1-1 at the interval.
The second half was as fiercely contested as the first but favour eventually leaned towards the visitors who secured two further goals in the remainder of the game, bringing the score to a 3 – 1 conclusion.
The next fixture for the Arran side will be a return to the Ayrshire Amateur Sunday League with a match against Glencairn tomorrow (Sunday) at the Kilwinning Sports Club with a 1pm kick off. The fixture will feel like deja-vu for both teams as the recently faced each other in the first round of the Go Vending Cup just two weeks ago with Arran securing a victory of 4-0. All supporters welcome.
