The first meeting of the new season for the Shiskine Women’s Institute was held on Wednesday October 2. The speaker for the evening was Charles Currie who chatted and played music which had been significant to him throughout the years. It was a thoughtful talk, at times hilarious and at times poignant. Members described the talk as a lovely start to the winter programme.

The competition winners were: cocktails: 1 Alice Anderson, 2 Sheila Gilmore, 3 Joan Stewart. Favourite vinyl record: 1 Kate Macintosh, 2 Alice Anderson, 3 Jenny Harper.

The next meeting will take place on Wednesday November 6, when Willie and Colin from the Blackwaterfoot volunteer fire service will attend. The competition will be homemade pizza and the exhibition, a masquerade mask.
