Arran AFC 5

Killie United 1

Ayrshire Sunday League

Arran made it two league wins out of two when they took on Killie United at Kilwinning Sports Club on Sunday putting five past their opponents in a comfortable win.

But they got off to a bad start as Killie took an early lead through a great strike from long range hitting the underside of the bar on its way into the net.

After a lot of frustration Arran eventually scored through a long ball from Danny Head was latched onto by Johnny Sloss to get the equaliser. Nick Emsley then made it 2-1 after finishing nicely from a pass through from Ryan Armstrong.

In the second half Arran were awarded a penalty when Sloss was brought down in the box. He then stepped up to take the spot kick himself to score his second goal of the game. It wasn’t long before he finalised his hat-trick after another cool finish.

Gregor Crichton came on for Joel Small on the left wing and was playing with great confidence beating defenders but for the second week in a row the youngster couldn’t buy a goal. It is considered only a matter of time before he opens his account. Ross Dobson also came on at full back to mark his debut for Arran and was heavily involved with some great tackles and strong aerial battles.

Emsley rounded off the scoring late on after chesting the ball into the net from close range. He was also given the man of the match award for a great performance in the midfield showing his class.

In a rare treat Arran are playing at home in Brodick tomorrow (Sunday). Secretary Marc Head said: ‘Due to conditions set by the league the Arran football team does not always get the opportunity to play in Brodick. However cup games are different, so this Sunday we kick-off at 1pm at Ormidale Park against Blantyre Albion in the West of Scotland Cup. So whether you are a Rangers or Celtic fan or alternatively enjoy watching quality football please come along, bring friends and family.’
