An ’emergency’ cleanup of Brodick beach took place last week after a deluge of logs and wood debris washed down the Rosa and Cloy burns following the major storm, reported in last week’s Banner.

A group of 11 adults and two children, members of the Beach Buddies group, removed a total of 60 kg of rubbish and 108 kg of logs and wood from Invercloy beach.

Further down at the opposite end of the beach, at Strabane, another group of young people doing a Duke Of Edinburgh Award, in conjunction with Community of Arran Seabed Trust (COAST), removed 35kg of rubbish from that beach.

The next scheduled beach cleans will take place at Lochranza on Sunday September 8 and at Machrie on Sunday September 15. Further information on these, and future beach cleans, can be found by searching for Beach Buddies Isle of Arran on Facebook.
