Copperwheats Knockout Cup

Southend booked their place in the semi finals of the Copperwheats Cup with an impressive display against Lamlash in the preliminary round of the competition at Sandbraes on Monday night.

Lewis Kennedy was in fine form in front of goal, banging in a first half hat-trick for the home side. Jamie Sillars scored for Lamlash as well to make the score 3-1 at the break.

Liam Bremner added to his tally early on in the second half to make it four before substitute Danny Head scored a goal of the season contender with a long range half volley over the Lamlash keeper. Corey Allen kept his impressive goal scoring tally up from defence when he knocked in the rebound from a corner. Then Ryan Armstrong rounded of the scoring when his shot from the edge of the box wound up in the corner of the net.

Referee Ian ‘Loci’ McDonald gave the man of the match award to young winger James Currie for some great trickery and setting up a number of the Southend goals.

The semi finals of the Copperwheats Knockout Cup will take place on Monday August 19 when Brodick take on Southend at Ormidale Park at 6.30pm and Northend face Shiskine and the Ewe Camp at 7pm.

Arran Dairies League

In the rearranged league fixture Brodick dominated over Northend at Lochranza where Kyle McNicol was on hand to score his first ever hat-trick for Brodick in emphatic style.

Joel Small also got a double for the visiting team while Dominick Demazeux and Christopher ‘Babbies’ MacNeil for the remainder of the goals. The consolation goals for Northend came from Archie Innes and Jean Demazeux.

Young Lachlan Campbell was awarded the man of the match for a great performance well ahead of his years.
