Whiting Bay bowlers started off their 61st season in fine weather with last year’s champion Ann Frame bowling the first jack of the season.
The group of almost 20 players were excited to be out on the green again and were relived that conditions were more favourable than they were for Brodick Bowling Club the weekend prior when their game had to be called off after four ends owing to heavy rain.
The Whiting Bay club is open from Monday to Saturday, 10am to 12.30pm and 2.30pm to 4.30pm. On a Saturday it is open from 7am to 9pm and on Sunday from 2.30pm to 4.30pm. Anyone that is interested in learning about the game or who wishes to join a social and friendly club is encouraged to pop over and members would be happy to explain the rules and offer coaching.
Today (Saturday) the club will be taking part in the Celebration of Whiting Bay Past and Present event, at 10.30am, and will be offering fun sessions and taster games for anyone that visits. Everyone is welcome to attend and novices are particularly welcome.
