I, Daniel Blake (2016, Ken Loach, Cert 15)

The Corrie film for May is acclaimed director Ken Loach’s  astonishing story of triumph and adversity, I, Daniel Blake.

The winner of many awards, including best British film from Bafta, this is a tough film, intensely moving but rich in integrity and heart, powerful and compassionate. It has been called ‘a film for our times’.

Daniel Blake has worked as a joiner for most of his life in Newcastle but, because of ill health, for the first time in his life needs help from the state. His story is one of courage and determination striving to pull himself, and a single mother whom he befriends, out of the welfare bureaucracy of modern Britain.

If you missed this film when it came out you can see it on the big screen in Corrie and Sannox Village Hall this Sunday May 12, at 8pm. Everyone welcome.
