The children at Corrie primary and early years class recently took part in a sponsored walk to raise funds to purchase two new picnic benches for the playground.

Despite the soaking the children got, on a very wet day in March, they raised an excellent £938, which also included a donation from the Scottish Salmon Company, and the school this week took delivery of the new benches.

Parent council chairwoman Ann Marie Mochan said: ‘We would like to thank all our supporters and say what a fantastic achievement this was for the children of the school and early years class.’
