Business Gateway, a publicly-funded service which provides access to free business support services, has been closed on Arran and relocated to a branch in Irvine.

Having previously operated from Brodick where their advisory team supported existing businesses, helping them to grow, the team of two previously also worked with individuals interested in starting a business.

In addition to one-to-one support they delivered a range of business workshops and events aimed at entrepreneurs.

Previous representatives of Business Gateway Arran and Cumbrae, Derek Shand and Lauren Johnstone thanked users of the service for all their support over the past 10 and a half years, on social media adding: ‘It was good to see your businesses grow and prosper.’

A council spokeswoman said: ‘On Monday April 1 the local Business Gateway office in Arran changed from being located in Brodick to The Circuit, 22 Quarry Road, Irvine.

‘Support will be provided to our local Arran companies by our team of business advisers with regular meetings being held on the island.  We look forward to delivering a number of workshops and events on Arran and Cumbrae in the year ahead.

‘We would love to hear from start-up businesses on Arran about what workshops or events they would like us to deliver. The new contact details for the office are 01294 449944 or email
