Glencairn Thistle 0 Arran AFC 12

League Division 1

Travelling to Ardeer Stadium in Stevenston for a match against Glencairn Thistle, Arran AFC dominated the opposition from start to finish and left their opponents, despite a valiant effort, hit 12 goals without reply.

Top goal scorer Archie McNicol ran rampant, scoring six goals for the team who are now sitting in second place in the league. With only one point between them and the league leaders, and with only a single game in hand, Arran AFC are now in with a real chance at taking the league title.

The match got off to an explosive start by the Arran boys, with quick passing and asserting themselves in the opposition’s half, and it was long before the first goal came from on-form Archie. Johnny Sloss followed Archie’s goal with one of his own before Archie added another three goals before the half time whistle blew.

A dejected Glencairn side battled on but Arran was not about to let up and increased the pressure. The second half was a repeat of the first with Ryan Armstrong adding a further two goals to the scoreboard and Christopher ‘Babbies’ Macneil and Sean Higgins each adding a further goal each.

Earning his second hat-trick Archie contributed a further three goals to the tally, securing himself as the undisputed man of the match.

The next fixture for the Arran team will be the final league cup game of the season against Killie Athletic tomorrow (Sunday) at Ardeer Juniors Stadium with a 12.45pm kick off. All supporters are encouraged to attend.
