Winter weather, including rain, snow and ice, have all played a large part in disrupting league fixtures for the Arran Ladies Hockey Club.

With a scheduled game against University of Strathclyde Women’s 2s, the Arran team  took the first ferry of the morning, knowing that it was liable to disruption, but they were keen to fulfil the fixture.

In a blow to morale and those who decided to risk the journey – and risked being stranded away from home – the team were notified once on board the ferry that the pitch at Strathclyde Uni was unplayable owing to snow.

The team returned home and the match, for the second time, had to be postponed.

A previous game the week before, against GHK 4s also had to be called off owing to inclement weather and the game will be rescheduled for next month.

The next fixture for the Arran Ladies Hockey Club will be against Dumfries Ladies 2s  today (Saturday) with a passback time of 2.15pm.

All supporters would be very much appreciated and warmly welcomed.
