Retired Arran High School head teacher, Douglas Auld, has continued his long and very successful career in athletics by winning two gold medals.

Taking part in the Scottish Masters Indoor Athletic Championships at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow last month, Douglas, from Whiting Bay, won the two medals in the men’s over-65 category.

Having previously won the high jump in the over-40s category, he now continues with the tradition and has taken gold in the over-65 category.

His other gold medal was for the shot putt which is unsurprising owing to the fact that he was the former Scottish schools champion.
