Lamlash Golf Club

Thursday February 28, Yellow Medal. 1 Allan Colquhoun 67-8=59, 2 Andy Smith 73-12=61. Magic twos, Allan Colquhoun at 16th, Jim Young at fifth.

Sunday March 3, Winter League. Lamlash 2.5-Machrie 1.5. Congratulations Lamlash on winning the Duncan Trophy and thank you to all the players, throughout the winter,  who contributed to this victory.

Fixtures: Sunday March 10, Glenburn Cup, 9.30am and noon. Thursday March 14, Yellow Medal, Stableford, 11am. Sunday March 18, game at Whiting Bay, 10.30am for 11am.

Whiting Bay Golf Club

Sunday March 3, AGA Winter League. Whiting Bay beat Brodick by three games to one to clinch the runners up trophy again. Well done to all who represented the club this winter and congratulations to Lamlash for winning the Duncan Trophy.

Fixture: Sunday March 10, Winter Cup, final round, draw at 10am. With the best three scores to count out of a possible six, it is all to play for, with several players in with a chance.

Corrie Golf Club

Monday March 4, Winter Cup. 1 J McGovern  71-10=61, 2 A McDonald 74-12=62. Magic twos, L Hartley, A McDonald 2,  J McGovern 2.

Fixtures: Saturday March 9, 18-hole sweep, ballots at 9am and 1.30pm. Monday March 11, Winter Cup, ballot at noon.

Brodick Golf Club

Wednesday February 27. Wednesday Cup. A total of eight played on a lovely day and it resulted in a tie with 22pts between G Dobson and R McCrae with Graham winning on count back. Magic twos, D Robertson.

Machrie Bay Golf Club

Saturday March 2, Stableford Sweep, 1 equal Phil Betley and Brian Sherwood 18 pts, 3 Campbell Laing 15 pts.

Arran Ladies Golf Union

Saturday February 23, Shiskine Drumadoon. With the weather forecast to be fair, the 15 ladies who took part were actually set for a really nasty surprise. Around 1pm the skies opened and with the strong prevailing wind, playing conditions became very difficult – as reflected in the scores.

1 Sheena Murchie 15, 76, BIH, 2 Jenni Turnbull 17, 76, 3 Lynda Blair 26, 77. Scratch, Ann May 84,  There were five non returns.

Arran Golfers Association

Sunday March 3, AGA Winter League final held at Lamlash. Despite the inclement weather forecast the day was most pleasant, setting the scene at Lamlash for a good day’s golf.

Lamlash were leading by two points and, with home advantage, secured the league with 2.5 games to 1.5 against Machrie Bay, registering nine points from a possible 10.

The runners up were Whiting Bay, who beat Brodick three games to one with seven points.

Other results: Shiskine beat Corrie by three games to one, Whiting Bay beat Brodick by three games to one, Lamlash beat Machrie Bay by 2.5 games to 1.5.

This left the tables at: Lamlash nine points, Whiting Bay seven points, Brodick five points, Machrie Bay four points, Shiskine four points and Corrie one point.


Taking the AGA Winter League trophy with nine points were Lamlash who took the title on home soil.  No_B10golf01
