The Square (2017  Cert 15)

After last week’s mini film festival Day in the Dark, Corrie Film Club presents its regular February film, The Square, a unique Swedish knife – sharp satire on art, culture and communication in the digital age.

Christian is a respected curator of a contemporary art museum in Stockholm gearing up to launch a new show which features The Square,  a daring installation examining altruism and our duty to help others. However, Christian’s own views on social responsibility are put to the test when he becomes the victim of a scam forcing him to question the world around him and his place in it.

The Square won the Palme D’Or at Cannes  in 2017 and features wonderful performances from Claes Bang (The Bridge) and Elisabeth Moss (The Handmaid’s Tale). Please note that although this is a certificate 15 it is only fair to say that there are sexually explicit scenes.

See this film tomorrow (Sunday) in Corrie and Sannox Hall at 8pm. All welcome.
