Arran film producer, director and actor, Craig Maclachlan is hosting a film showcase and networking fundraiser later this month in aid of Marie Curie and Macmillan Cancer Support.

Taking place in Loks bar and restaurant in Glasgow, the event will feature films, live music, cosplay, and a charity auction and raffle that will include prizes and goods donated from Arran businesses – with the main prize being an Arran break for two.

Utilising his skills from the film industry Craig, who runs Maclachlan84 Productions, is hosting the event in honour of his dad Douglas who passed away in October last year from lung cancer.

Craig said: ‘My dad was an amazing man, he was my best friend and we done so much together, he taught me so much and I’m a better person through the love and guidance he gave me, alongside my mum.

‘Football was a shared passion between me and my dad so we have a great football related prize to auction on the night – two VIP tickets to a very big European game.’

‘Other prizes include private fitness classes, private dining experiences and the big prize of the night, Experience Arran, which will consist of an overnight stay for two, meals in different venues and lots of fun activities thrown in to make it an unforgettable Arran experience. So far Lamlash Bay Hotel, Taste Of Arran, Arran Gin and  the Invercloy Co-op have all contributed to ensure that the winner enjoys an authentic Arran experience.’

Supporters at the event can expect a wealth of film and musical talent including international performer and singer/songwriter Mike Edwards and filmmakers Dragonstone Productions and Magic Monkey Films.

In addition Scottish actress, model and cosplayer, Nicolette McKeown will be heading up the cosplay event which will see people dressing up as their favourite film characters, from Wonder Woman to Ghostbusters and more.

Inviting everyone, especially Arran friends and supporters, to attend the event on Thursday January 24, at the Newlandfield Suite at Loks Bar and Kitchen in Shawlands. Craig said: ‘This is going to be a night to remember. We want people to come, have a drink, enjoy the evening and donate money to two extremely important charities.

’Cancer touches each and every one of us and this evening is about hitting it where it hurts with positivity, love and the finest talent that Scotland has to offer.’
