The Arran branch of the SSPCA held a successful festive fund raising event upstairs at Arran Active on Saturday November 17 during the Shop Arran weekend.

Those present enjoyed mulled wine, spiced tea and mince pies while being entertained by local musicians; Vivace, members of Arco String Orchestra, Mark Brown and Colin Guthrie. There was also the opportunity to stock up on the tempting home baking and take part in the splendid raffle.

The sum of £490 was collected towards the work of Scotland’s main animal charity, here on Arran and on the mainland.

Christine Drennan from the charity said: ‘None of this would have been possible without the generosity of Andrew Walsh in giving the use of his premises, and, of course, all the wonderful volunteers and musicians. A huge thank you to them and all the kind people who came and contributed on the day.’
