Alice Anderson vice president of the Isle of Arran SWI was on hand to speak to ladies visiting the open day held at the Ormidale Pavilion last Monday.

Members and potential members attended to have a cuppa and chat to the committee members. There was a display of some of the work that was entered into their show in August.

Each Institute displayed a poster with their winter timetable. It was interesting to hear ladies say they would like to visit many of the institute meetings as there are a lot of good speakers scheduled over the coming months. Some of the demonstrations will include basket weaving, illicit distilling, country dancing, singing, cocktail making, the list is endless.

The message is, you don’t have to stick to your own Institute. Go as a visitor to any of the demonstrations, You will be made very welcome. Check the Arran SWI facebook page for updates of upcoming demonstrations. But here is a flavour to start.

Lamlash Ladies meet in the Fire Station first Wednesday of the month, their next meeting on October 3 will be a talk about AIlsa Craig, which will be fascinating.
