Northend 0 Southend 6

Southend maintained their 100 per cent win rate in the league this season as they took another step towards winning the Arran Dairies League trophy. The MBS boys now just need to take one point from their remaining fixtures against Lamlash and Brodick to secure the title.

In the only game played on Monday night Donny Park opened the scoring for the visitors with a well struck shot. Ryan Armstrong then tucked in a second after a goalmouth scramble.

The third goal was very fortunate as Donny grabbed his second with a shot from outside the box which took a wicked bounce and hopped over goalkeeper Michael McGuire.

The second half was much of the same as Donny got his hat-trick. Fraser Gilbert got on the scoresheet too as a Northend clearance was blasted straight off referee Greg McCrae, with the ball falling to Fraser who stroked it home into the top corner.

Southend veteran Murray Picken was back for his annual trip from New Zealand and managed to get on the scoresheet, much to his delight as it took him ahead of his brother Jamie in goals this season.

Greg gave Southend fullback Willie Sillars the man of the match as he put in another calm and influential performance.

Brodick meanwhile, were unable to muster a team to face Lamlash and had to cancel the fixture.

Next weeks fixtures are still to be confirmed as Arran AFC start their league campaign tomorrow (Sunday) so games may be altered. Provisionally scheduled are Southend v Lamlash and Brodick v Shiskine.
