Nara Wood got her triathlon career off to a flying start by finishing in top place for Tri Start Girls on her maiden race.
It was the first outing of the season for the Arran Junior Triathlon Club at the aquathlon at the Allander Leisure Centre in Bearsden last weekend, which went ahead despite the snow.
Ben McCarthy also attained a podium finish, coming third in the Tri Star 1 age group, while the Arran club as a whole had its best overall results in their short history with many finishing in the top 10 in their respective age groups.
The encouraging results were warmly welcomed by the 16 strong team at the Allander Leisure Centre who had been training throughout the winter and who endured very wintry conditions during the event. Before the event started Glasgow Triathlon Club committee members had to clear snow off the course before it could go ahead.
The club are actively seeking members, in particular boys and girls aged 6 to 8. The only requirement, other than age, is that children must be able to swim one length of the pool. Anyone interested should can get in touch with Craig Wood at: firstname.lastname@example.org
