Hillhead 4s 3  Arran Ladies 1

The Arran Ladies began the first of three away games last Saturday when they travelled to the Lower Windyedge pitch in Glasgow where they faced Hillhead Ladies 4s.

Despite being ranked significantly further down the league table, the Hillhead Ladies established an impenetrable midfield and a solid defence which only allowed a single opportunity for the Arran Ladies to score.

At the other end  goalline clearances from Alison ‘Ninja’ McKie and the energetic defensive work by Elyse Aitken prevented an even greater score line, however the result by the final whistle was a narrow defeat of 3 – 1. For her uncanny ability to be in the right place at the right time and her lightning speed Alison nominated as dame of the game.

The Arran ladies are currently sitting third in the West District Women’s Hockey League division 3 table with 28 points with four games left to play. Today (Saturday) the ladies will face Milne Craig Clydesdale Western Ladies 6s and in the last of their away games will take on GHK Ladies 3s on Saturday March 3.

The final two games will be played on their home turf at the Ormidale Astroturf where they will face Uddingston Clinetix Ladies 2s and Stepps Ladies 2s.
