A bumper Christmas mackerel lottery got a marathon fundraising effort for Maggie’s Centres off to a flying start.
Around 100 people packed the Kinloch Hotel two days before Christmas for the annual fun event and which saw the mackerel lottery raise £936 towards Barbara Crawford’s target of £3,000 she has set herself to raise before she and friend Carol Brown run the London marathon in April.
Barbara said she had chosen to raise money for Maggie’s because of the wide support they give people affected by cancer across the country and said they hoped to expand their services on Arran. Other fund raising events will be held at the Kinloch, which she runs with husband Robbie, ahead of the marathon, which she is now hard in training for.
As well as the lottery guests enjoyed a Christmas jumper competition for children and adults as well as games of Deal or No Deal and Play Your Cards Right. The winners of the Shiskine Christmas lights competition were also announced with Charles Currie emerging as the winner.
